HF diplomatic traffic3 – 30 MHz
Embassies in London historically maintain HF links to their capitals. Traffic is typically found in the utility (non-broadcast) portions between amateur and broadcast bands — CW, RTTY/Baudot, PSK, MFSK and PACTOR are all observed. Modes evolve from STANAG 4285 (NATO-aligned) through to proprietary MIL/diplomatic waveforms.
"Numbers stations" — one-way voice or data transmissions to intelligence officers — have long been associated with diplomatic activity. Examples heard from the UK:

No dedicated ITU "embassy band" — allocations are taken from the fixed service. Ofcom coordinates London diplomatic licensing.

Close-protection details, driver nets and compound security operate on Ofcom-assigned channels from the business radio bands, usually narrowband FM or DMR. Some embassies hold dedicated pairs in the 167–169 MHz and 453–461 MHz regions.
